What God Says About Fear - 10 Verses to Cling to in Tough Times

I have struggled with moments of fear and anxiety for most of my life. Through my journey, I have learned to shift my fear from the things out of my control to a fear of the Lord. That might sound odd, but there is an amazing freedom in fearing the Lord. For me, fear of the Lord is the fear of missing out on the life He has planned for me. I spent years missing out on the life God had right in front of me because I was paralyzed by things that were completely out of my control. Once I shifted my focus, I began to see freedom. These are some of the verses that I cling to in those tough times. I hope these verses will help you on your journey as well.

Here’s what God says about fear:

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” — Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding.” — Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.” — Proverbs 19:23 “In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.” — Proverbs 14:26 “Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.” — Psalm 86:11 “He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.” — Psalm 145:19 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good” — Deuteronomy 10:12-13 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10

And my all time favorite:

Joshua 1:9

Do you struggle with fear, anxiety, and worry? I have found that putting verses in front of me & on repeat in my head always helps.
